Multi-Mode Revisited; part 1
The Multi-mode on the Wavestation is pretty aweful as a multi-timbral synth unit in the traditional sense, but pretty AWESOME as a set of sixteen EXTRA performances! Each with it's own custom effects!
If you start with good-sounding, raw Performances (with no effects of their own, or with expendable ones), you can cash in on your efforts by treating each of the sixteen available Multi-Mode Setups as Performances in their own right, each with its own custom effects. Each of the sixteen can be brutally unique, or be variations of the same themes but using different effects and mix values.
From a single performance can come an extra sixteen performances, by having radically different effects applied in each Multi-Mode Setup. So, on top of the 100 Performances in Poly mode, you can have an additional sixteen.
But who really needs 116 performances all loaded in at once? Hmmmm.
Of course, each of the sixteen CHANNELS in each Multi-Mode Setup can have a different sound in it, accessed by the keyboard by changing the midi channel number from 1 to 16, making sixteen performances in each multiset with a common effects algorithm binding them in overall feel.
So, now you have the 100 poly-mode performances, plus *sixteen-times-sixteen* EXTRA BONUS bona-fide performances within the bowels of the Multi-Mode Setups/Multisets! That's 356 total!!! NOW we're talking!!! 3-1/2 hour nonstop live performance, anyone?
And I haven't LAYERED a single thing... YET!
